We Spent the Day Looking at Books

It is not all pack and ship of merchandise at the My-Lynx Associates World Headquarters. Sometimes we like to relax and shop for books. Today was the day. The mild weather made for perfect conditions to look for books. We went to a local book fair and wandered for several hours, and the only regret is that we did not get up earlier in the day to start our journey earlier.

As we left, the full moon reared above the horizon as we drove eastwards, and we are reminded that it is a propitious feast day: All Saints Day, when we reflect on all those who have achieved some measure of accomplishment in the spiritual world. We hope that the goblins have passed by and left us behind and that only the holy ones remain abroad this evening.

We think of mentors and teachers in our lives, many of whom have passed into the great beyond, and their examples of virtue, intelligence, fortitude, and generosity and wonder if their like will ever pass this way again. Perhaps they are not canonized by proclamation, or acknowledged as miracle workers, but nevertheless they transformed the lives of those around them by their actions and deeds. That is our topic for meditation this evening as we reflect on the events of the day.

As the clocks change and darkness comes earlier in the day, we grow ever more  introspective. And the change in the movement of the sun  as it shifts lower in the southern part of the sky and the moon rises higher in the sky at night makes us think of the coming Winter and the passing of the Fall season.
