I hate buying books in the rain

I love the rain we have been having, the lakes are filling up with water after a prolonged drought in Central Texas, and things are starting to look green again after a hot summer with 50-some odd days of temperatures well over 100 degrees. But I like to get stacks of books when I shop around. And the last few days have been damp and gray. I don't like to get the books wet. It is hard to get books from one place to another in the rain without the little drops touching the covers or the sides and leaving little unpleasent spots. Or the books get rained on and the damage is hidden when I pick them out and I don't notice the wrinkle marks till I get home. We have to find synonyms for water damage like: wrinkled, rippled, discolored dust jacket and so forth. It is easier sometimes instead to just discard them. And we hate to discard books. It is something that we hate to do, especially if we pay for them and they are worth a lot of money. But sometimes there is no choice.  You can't unwet a book.

So I have been sitting at home listing our stack of books in the safe dry area we call our office. Some school books for kids, some text books. Click on the websites on the right to find out more.
