The Pipes Did Not Burst This Morning
Here in Central Texas, the meteorologists are key figures in daily routine. In the summer storms, if they say hunker down and hide, that means that there is a tornado on the way. If they warn about broken pipes, we chew our nails, because there is no shut-off valve for the yard pipes. We have a little digital thermometer that records highs and lows, our low was 19.5 degrees overnight, and the airport, where the official measurements are taken was already at a record at 10 PM last night as the cold wind from the north blew into town. So we did not get much done today, we were shivering and dreaming of the peach crop in the Spring. That is right, peaches, because we are in a fairly mild weather zone, and it just needs a little nip of frost in the winter to get them to set fruit.
We have not seen any birds around, and why should we with the My-Lynx Associates bird bath all frozen over. It defrosted a little in the sun, but it is not very inviting to swim in. We will assume that our feathered friends have gone further South for their rest and relaxation.
