We are resting in the lap of luxury
Well, resting is too strong a word, but we are actually taking a break from wrapping our books for shipping tonight, since tomorrow is a Post Office Holiday, a Federal Holiday in memory of the great expositor of ahimsa, (an ancient Sanskrit word, which we probably will write about soon, you can easily look it up on your search engine), The Rev. Martin Luther King. In the great tradition of the Mahatma, Gandhi, and Henry David Thoreau, he accomplished great things through dignity and restraint and gave us a way of looking at things and people that differed from any that came before.
We could take the books to the Post Office, but we will have to look longingly through the glass windows at the locked mail chute. Nothing pleases us more than to ship a book the same day we get the order.
The place will be sealed up tight. So we will start moving merchandise around tomorrow morning to clear a path to the door, so the cleaning staff can fit a vacuum cleaner through the door. We have books stacked up all over right now, because we are doing two things at once, buying a lot of books, and selling a lot of books at the same time.
Incidentally, here is one of the prizes of our collection, a new acquisition, a booklet put out decades ago probably. It is not for sale just yet, but we will post it tomorrow, if we don't get deluged with orders.
In other words, old readers, new readers and guests, this is a sneak peek at something that is yet to be sold. It is a book that will go into our Texana section - items that are dedicated to the Lone Star state. It is titled simply "The Furbearers of Texas".
