How Fast Can We Sell It? (Update: Only 6 hours)

Updated 03/28/10 2:03 PM CDT (That would be Central Daylight Time Zone in USA / Mexico / Canada etc):

The book below is a highly rated best seller. In fact it was is our best-selling book, titled "In Defense Of Food" by Michael Pollan. We touted it here on the blog a few weeks ago, but because the price was a little high it has remained lurking on the shelf in our inventory warehouse for quite some time. But we know how to sell books.

In this case, make an offer that the millions of on-line buyers cannot refuse. We dropped the price to $7.95. The time of this blog for the initial entry is 1:08 PM CDT  on Friday 03/26 (Central Daylight Time in the United States). It will take about an hour for the price to drop on the various websites we sell on. So, as a blog reader, you might have a little head start on purchasing this item. Otherwise the sharp-eyed will snap this up fairly quickly. We will post the sales time below when those who want a book about the "real facts" about food. It does make interesting reading, because the author has gone over the many and myriad fallacies about food and presented them in an appealing way, hence that is why it is a best seller.

We are not big fans of reading about food in a blog like this, that is a category of blog called a "cheese sandwich blog" in which people recount, as people like to do, the tedious details of what they ate. There are even people who write blogs commenting on the best of the cheese sandwich blogs, just as we are doing here, in a paradoxical manner.

It is basically a written commentary of a common human activity. You may know someone who does this in your office, or your home, you might even be married to or be an in-law of someone who does this. It is a kind of substitute conversation.

We had  a long-term friend, who, when we were unwary enough to ask in the evening "how their day was?", would automatically and routinely launch into an extended recitation of each meal consumed for that day, as if recalling an historical event like Washington crossing the Delaware, or Napoleon at his Waterloo, a kind of breathless memory of a timeless and pertinent event.

Once started, the conversation would trudge along, as carriage wheels will, when traversing along in a well worn rut on a country dirt road,  for as long as it took to give every gustatory detail. We here at the My-Lynx Associates blog tend to take a dim view of such a rendering of experience, because it is somewhat hard to relate to when the person is in the room talking to us in person. To read about it third hand, it is even more abstract, and correspondingly even less interesting in a cheese-sandwich blog where you are reading about somebody you don't know, eating something not very interesting, though we know that eating and tasting are something that itself "consumes" the mental processes of many.

Updated: Admire the picture only since the book has already sold Click below on the picture should you wish to purchase for the next indeterminate period of time, and it will show the book if it still available. We will update this as time permits, the item is subject to prior sale, the item sold on Friday night 03/27/10 at about 7:30 PM. Only six hours to sell. We wish we had more to sell. Of course, that is the nature of sales, if we knew what people wanted in advance, we would wish for a million to sell, we might as well wish for our own Jeannie (the TV kind, not the actual djinn, who tend to be mischevious, or even malevolent).

1:36 PM update - the prices have already gone into effect, but we noted that the price we have used is actually a  "used book" price, even though it is in very good shape. There are some book sellers that claim to have new copies for even less. We may have to drop the price, the experiment is to see how quickly someone will snap this book up, and low prices on a best-seller is the way to make that happen. The excitement is building in the My-Lynx Associates Office, it is like going to the horse races.

03/27/10 2:28 PM update: The book sold Friday night at about 7:35, about 6-7 hours after we originally reduced the price, someone thought the price of 7.95 was attractive enough. We have already sent out the book early Saturday afternoon. The lesson learned or just reconfirmed? People can't resist a best-seller at a bargain price. We will fix the link picture above to just show the picture, since we don't have another copy for sale.
