Geckos Don't Talk

They just move quickly when they come to the door of the My-Lynx Associates World Headquarters. It is not because they are rude, they are tiny, and unlike television geckos in resplendent emerald green, they are colored to match their surroundings.

Just as the swallows return to Capistrano in the Spring, so do the geckos return to Central Texas.

We have not seen them yet, they are due. We had a chilly winter, so we don't know if they go dormant or hibernate, but now is the time that they emerge from wherever it is they go. We read that they hitched a ride on container ships from tropical climes, they are not a native species, so we hope they are alright.

Here is a picture from times gone by. We had to be a little stealthy to get so close, because they are skittish creatures, not wanting to be lunch for a passing avian predator.

The creature is only a few inches long, and they move quickly, so this was a lucky picture-shot. It does not hang around, holding a coffee cup, having extended conversations in the break room like the animated gecko on television that advertises in commercials, in reality, it is here, and if you look away, it vanishes in a flash. This one is poised for a mad dash into the wilderness at any second.
