We Have A Few More Books For Sale

We are plunging through our stack of Christian theological tomes. We found a stack of them recently, apparently from someone in the preaching business, because some are reprints of old sermons from the 19th Century, many from England. We checked some of the pastors who wrote the books, and they were famous in their time, though they are a little obscure now. "Characters in the Holy War" is not about modern religious warfare, but rather refers to the detailed analysis by Alexander Whyte of characters with appropriate metaphorical names in a 1682 allegorical novel, "The Holy War" written by John Bunyan, who also wrote "Pilgrims Progress".

We would imagine that they would be appealing to people in the clergy, as a source of inspiration for even modern sermons, since they are filled with Biblical quotes from both the Old and New Testaments. Maybe theological students may also take interest, since they have many points of doctrine and explanation of different Biblical concepts in lay language for parishioners. Students of history might also take note, because these are very detailed verbal snapshots of what composed the Sabbath life in 19th Century and, for a couple of the books the early 20th Century in England, and presumably America as well, when sermons would be a high point of the community social life, before the 20th Century advent of more worldly pastimes and entertainments that still characterize our own era.

Many of these books are from a printing house up in Montana known as Old Paths Gospel Press, and they have specialized in reprints of these books some of which are from century-old texts or even older. We have another handful or two to post. Here is a grid from our eBay store, but your are likely to find them at My-Lynx Associates, our own site, or on Amazon. Click on the links on the right.

We will also be updating our monthly list of inventory soon, so the search engines can find what other books we are selling.
