Almost Summer Flower Photo - An Annual Event

We are slowly saying goodbye to Spring. The temperatures are now in the upper 80s and low 90s, good for vegetable crops, but the wild flowers are perhaps starting to fade as the weedy grasses and tall plants fill in along the roadways.

We always gauge or summer by the appearance of the amaryllis flower in the local garden, with some gaudy red and white colors that remind us of a carnival clown. The stalks that hold the bunch of flowers has been in the works for several weeks, but finally has come to fruition. That is the signal to us of the end of Spring, since they bloom just as the hot weather arrives. Here is a quick glance of what we rest our eyes on in the afternoons, in between our book vending duties:
