We Are Clearing The Shelves

We have not been posting daily about our little book world, we have the summer doldrums, the temperature is warm, the birds are singing. We even found another nestling at the door last night, yelling for its dinner on the front porch. We should have gotten a picture, but it hopped away as soon as it saw us, screeching all the way, it was almost a fledgling. We tried to track it down, but the light got too dim.
We are waiting for the silly season to start. That would be the time from the end of July till Labor Day when the powers-that-be take a vacation. And in order to fill print space, the newspapers and cable networkds carry intriguing stories about the odd, the unusual and the strange and the stories suddenly take on a life of their own. Of course, in the last 15 years, the Internet has filled that void the rest of the year, but we will be watching for the unusual.
We saw a story about a man who is chained in the basement of his house in a far-off country. His parents claim that he possessed by a female djinn, or genie. That would be a run-of-the-mill event in some parts of the world, but during the silly season it gets reported by news-gathering organizations. We think that is the "kick off" story of the silly season, when the humidity goes up, people go on vacation, and millions of people enjoy the great outdoors. At least in the Northern Hemisphere.
We will keep you updated. We heard a story about how it was getting frosty in the Peruvian Amazon. Which means anything is possible.
We are systematically cleaning out our stock, making room for new merchandise. We sold a book earlier this week, and after we reduced the price, it sold within two hours. We think we marked it down too much, but that is what a clearance is all about - clearing out extra stuff. You might find a bargain. If you need to know more about our merchandise you can purchase on the following sites:
A1 Books
AbeBooks
Alibris
Amazon
Biblio
eBay
My-Lynx Associates
Half.com
Our goal is to ship within one business day of your order, and sometimes we are even faster than that, especially if you order early in the day.
We obtained some more items yesterday in our book search - actually more of a book quest, our obsessive quest in our search for the perfect book, which is something of a challenge in the heat of a Texas summer. But we won't complain.
We have new stuff to list, but we won't get to it today. Here is a neat and tidy listing of some recently listed items from last week for sale on eBay.
