New Crescent Moon, New Books

The astronomers call the moon later in its journey to full moon by the baffling title: "waxing gibbous", waxing as in increasing and gibbous as in "bulging outwards".

But right now the moon still in the crescent phase. Here it is (below our book selection) in the early evening sky, illuminated by some high clouds shortly after sunset, around 8:30 on Thursday.
